Read the statements
Every cat tells you where it was: which room, who it was beside, who it was left of… Statements never lie.
Place the cats
Put the cats on the floor plan. Exactly one per row and per column, never on furniture. Eliminate step by step, like sudoku.
Name the thief
Once everyone is placed, the cat alone in the room with the snack is the thief. Each case has exactly one answer.

FAQ
Can a statement be a lie?
No. Every statement and scene note is true; there are no tricks.
Do I ever have to guess?
No. Every puzzle can be solved by deduction alone. If you are stuck, re-read the statements for a keyword you may have skimmed, such as "not necessarily adjacent".
Does "beside" work across a wall?
No. Beside always means adjacent and in the same room.
Does the snack count as a cat?
No. The row/column rule, "N cats in a room" and "alone" only count cats. Statements like "beside the snack" refer to it directly.
How is the thief defined?
The cat in the same room as the snack. Puzzles guarantee exactly one such cat, so once the board is complete the answer is unique.
"I was left of X" — can X be in another room?
Yes. Left/above compares columns and rows only; rooms and adjacency do not matter.
